A thermostatic chamber for doppler-broadening thermometry of mercury vapors

We present an isothermal chamber designed and realized at the Italian Metrological Institute (INRiM) to stabilize temperature of a quartz cell for Doppler-broadened precision spectroscopy mercury atoms in UV region practical realization new definition kelvin. The challenge this apparatus is capability control, with great accuracy, non-cylindrical cavity containing vapors. was actively controlled maintained stable within 0.05 mK triple point water 15 h, but longer periods are possible. spatial uniformity also characterized. traceability measurements complete uncertainty budget discussed.
